The Section of Solid Organ Transplantation within the Department of Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire is seeking a second Board Certified/Board Eligible Transplant Nephrologist with expertise in both renal and pancreas transplantation as well as general nephrology and hypertension. A proven track record as either a clinical scholar and/or scientist is desirable. All candidates must be UNOS certified or certifiable and be able to hold a New Hampshire medical license. The individual chosen will be involved in all clinical and administrative activities of the Section as well as all academic activities of the Department of Surgery. An academic appointment will be requested through the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, at a rank commensurate with qualifications. The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 5 years’ experience and would be hired with a goal of succession into the Medical Director role.

Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center currently has a kidney only transplantation program with plans to expand into pancreas transplantation in the very near future. Candidates must have the ability to independently manage all kidney and pancreas transplant patients and living donors through all phases of transplantation. Our program follows a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care based upon the Dartmouth-Hitchcock principles of respect and value for our patients, staff and community. Opportunities for research both clinical and basic science, exist within the context of one’s clinical duties including The Dartmouth Institute and a vigorous, vital Translational Immunology Department at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth. Responsibilities and Core Duties include:

  • Potential recipient and donor candidate medical evaluations
  • Pre-transplant, waitlist, and donor medical reviews and management
  • Long term post-transplant care and immunosuppression monitoring
  • Participation in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Participation in Quality Assurance and Performance Committees
  • Attend and participate in the evaluation of potential donors/recipients as well as established transplant recipients at various satellite clinics in the NH/VT catchment area
  • Attend regional and national transplant meetings as a representative of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center
  • Provide educational sessions for staff, residents and fellows as well as referring physicians
  • Daily in-patient rounding
  • Shared evening and weekend for medical transplant related problems
  • Provide leadership, training and education for medical students, surgical and medicine residents, as well as nephrology fellows
