Hospitalist

Chief of Quality and Pediatric Hospitalist, Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock

The Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) seeks a Chief of Quality to lead initiatives to continuously improve the value and safety of care for infants, children and adolescents across our system. CHaD is the pediatric service of Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health (D-HH), an integrated academic healthcare delivery system for northern New England. Reporting to the D-HH Chief Quality and Value Officer and CHaD Physician-in-Chief, the CHaD Chief of Quality will maintain privileges and provide clinical service time in the Section of Pediatric Hospital Medicine (PHM).

Candidates for this position should be experienced Pediatric Hospitalists who are Board Certified in General Pediatrics or PHM. The ideal candidate will have experience with key pediatric quality and safety measures, including benchmarking local performance against larger measure sets, designing and leading quality improvement initiatives, and fostering a culture of safety and high-value care. Familiarity with and/or participation in national pediatric quality and safety collaboratives is strongly desired.

CHaD operates an integrated acuity adaptable inpatient unit with a PICU and a level III NICU at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where the candidate will practice PHM. Our pediatric hospitalists care for children from a broad catchment area with diverse presentations while focusing on continual care improvement and pursuing a wide range of academic interests, including clinical, translational, and health services research.

Teaching residents and medical students is expected; eligibility for academic appointment at The Geisel School of Medicine is required, at a rank commensurate with experience and academic portfolio.

DHMC is recognized by US News & World Report as the Best Hospital in NH and is home to the NCI-designated Norris Cotton Cancer Center and the Dartmouth Institute for Health Policy and Clinical Practice. CHaD maintains comprehensive ambulatory specialty centers at DHMC and at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Clinic in Manchester, the largest city in the state, along with a network of pediatric primary care medical homes. The CHaD Chief of Quality will share responsibility for all pediatric care locations.

CHaD provides a rare opportunity to combine high level academic pediatrics with a serene living environment. Lebanon is part of the Upper Connecticut River Valley, home to Dartmouth College and its abundant cultural and enrichment activities. With ski country, world class hiking, beautiful rivers and lakes, and the seacoast in our backyard and urban destinations like Boston, Montreal, and New York within driving distance, this the ideal place to work and play.
