Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center’s Department of Anesthesiology is recruiting a Chief Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist to join their team of 60 CRNAs. Located in the Upper Connecticut River Valley of New Hampshire, Dartmouth-Hitchcock is an academic medical center and is the state’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. Our facility has the 2nd highest acuity level in New England which falls within the nation’s top 5%.

The Chief Nurse Anesthetist supports the clinical mission of the Department of Anesthesiology and retains a clinical role as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). The chief CRNA functions as the primary CRNA representative to the Department of Anesthesiology and the Perioperative Service Line.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Possess a current and strong CRNA clinical practice, aligning with the standards and expectations of staff CRNAs
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of CRNA personnel and other reports within the guidelines of current policies, together with the Assistant Chief CRNA
  • Plan and conduct regularly scheduled CRNA meetings
  • Participate in leadership and institutional meetings as the CRNA representative
  • Manage CRNA staffing with CRNA scheduler
  • Manage CRNA and SRNA education with CRNA educator
  • Recruit, hire and onboard new CRNAs
  • Work with leadership on departmental mission, vision, policies, quality and safety, budget and CRNA compensation
  • Diplomacy and discretion are required

  • Currently licensed as an RN and APRN the State of New Hampshire
  • Current certification through NBCRNA
