Qualifications
- Advanced clinical degree (MD or DO)
- Post graduate training in residency program
Responsibilities
- Provide clinical and related administrative services to ensure timely care of patients.
- Abide by the Dartmouth Health Bylaws for the Professional Staff and Code of Conduct.
- Review records and detailed medical history from patient(s).
- Determine appropriate diagnosis (diagnoses) and treatment plan(s).
- Determine and order appropriate screening and diagnostic tests and studies.
- Obtain informed consent for treatment diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and studies.
- Interpret and evaluate test and study results.
- Prescribe medications, treatments, and medical devices in accordance within specialty scope of practice and applicable rules and regulations.
- Initiate referrals to other providers as necessary.
- Initiate admission/discharge of patients, if applicable.
- Provide consultation, education, and counseling regarding the management of acute and chronic illnesses and injuries. Encourage behavioral change and assist with self-management skills to improve overall health, within specialty scope of practice.
- Complete appropriate documentation in a timely manner.
- Provide patient and family-centered care.
- Insure the patient’s right to privacy, confidentiality and informed consent.
- Supervise APP’s as directed.
- Participate in continuing medical education (CME).
- Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Licensure/Certifications
- Vermont Medical License
- Current or eligible for ABMS Board Certification (to be obtained within 5 years)
- Active hospital staff membership
